Rabbit Applique Machine Embroidery Design

A close-up of the rabbit applique design on baby sheet
Besides the clown applique embroidery designs that I made for my cousin's grandchild,s I also made the rabbit applique machine embroidery design. I tried to do the border in the hoop but found that it was very tedious so I gave up and opted to do it the manual way like I used to do it earlier. It took me quite a while, about 5 hours just to lay everything and prepare it for the zigzag applique stitch while the zigzag stitch itself took just one hour in all.

Today, my cousin collected both the baby sets, the rabbit applique set and the clown face applique set. They came when I was at work and later called me to see that they liked both the applique sets very much. She kept saying they liked them. Gave me a deep sense of satisfaction.

My cousin's daughter is expecting a baby in June and she asked me to do some applique work for the new baby. Her mother who is no more was pretty good at needlework and she had some of the Portuguese needlework magazines called Maos de Fada which were available here in Goa during the Portuguese regime. My father saw them and he started buying them for my mother from whom I have inherited my love for needlework. We have a few issues and whenever I needed to do embroidery I knew that when I turned to this bound volume I would always find a suitable pattern for whatever it is that I wanted to make. It so happened that they brought along tracings of the applique rabbits and the applique clown face designs from an issue that we too have.

I took some time to digitize the clown applique design but when I had completed it and had sewn it out, I was really thrilled. I made a few changes to the first applique clown face design in order to get the other two clown face applique designs. They wanted a baby sheet or wrapper, a pillow cover and a pair of bolster covers. See the pictures below. Flower Applique Design

It's been a while since I blogged; have been busy her's with work and have also been doing a lot of applique embroidery for my oldest girl cousin whose daughter is expecting a baby.

I had some remnants of my mother's dress material in dark green and white and also some remnants of a light green and white in a similar print which I had used for a nightie for my sis-in-law. Always wanted to applique the opposite color on to the other material... and so I gave it a try. Am I getting thrifty, you may ask... LOL!

Anyway, here it is...a closeup and the finished dress with the appliqued flowers for my niece below.
